None of Habitat for Humanity’s accomplishments would be possible without the unwavering support of a dedicated board, selfless volunteers, generous donors and committed partners.

Our dedicated board members include:

  • Sheelagh Cooper – chair

Annual fundraising

Each year for the past three years, Habitat has held gala fundraisers to raise funds to support our projects, both large and small. We have had three very successful events including:

2023 – Vegas in the Vaults

The owner of Agars Island, Lillian Martin, provided the unique venue for this event, allowing us access to the vaults that are a historical part of the private island. These vaults were built by the British Navy in the 1800s to secretly store ammunition. They made for a very special experience, with each of the eight vaults offering a different theme, including a casino. More 120 people made their way to the island to help raise money for Habitat.

Almost $200,000 was raised at this event! It was a very special evening and extremely memorable for our guests. A huge thanks to our key sponsor Talcott Re and Bacardi and Burrows Lightbourn as our in-kind sponsors.

2024 – Vegas in Venice

The venue was changed to Pier 6 for this event on May 18, 2024, but the casino theme carried on. The event was a Venetian Masquerade Ball. The guests were treated to an amazing evening which included a cocktail hour, a three-course dinner followed by entertainment and a casino. We were privileged to have Talcott Re as our key sponsor again, along with Rego Sotheby’s International as our corporate sponsor and Bacardi and Discovery Wines as our sponsors in-kind. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and guests, we raised $120,000 at the event.

2025 – Casino Royale Black & White Party

The most recent Habitat gala fundraiser was held on May 10 at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. The theme was Casino Royale and the vibe was James Bond. Our guests enjoyed a delicious meal  following a cocktail reception complete with martini bar (shaken not stirred) and a James Bond inspired sports car. Thanks again to our Key Sponsor Talcott Financial along with our corporate sponsor Brava Solutions and our in-kind sponsor Goslings who provided an amazing selection of wines and cocktails. This year, more than 200 people came out in support of Habitat and more than $130,000 was raised to support the important work of the charity.

Annual Golf Tournament

Habitat had its first Annual Charity Golf Day on January 26, 2024, at Tucker’s Point Golf Club,

which was put together by a group of golfers looking to do something good for the community. The event was such a success raising over $30,000 for Habitat for Humanity, that the 2nd Annual Charity Golf Day was held on February 28, 2025, again at Tucker’s Point, raising almost $35,000! Habitat is so grateful for the committee leaders Brendan McDonagh and Shane McDonnell and committee members – Rodney Holloway, Christian Ince, Shannon Brennan, Michelle McDonagh and Chris Lemieux. This is what happens when passion meets purpose and the community comes together to create something great!

Donors

Many donors have supported Habitat’s work in the community. Here is a list of corporate donors and foundations that have helped sustain the charity over the past few years. This is not a complete list covering 25 years of support, so there will be many companies or organisations that are not listed, but still very much appreciated. There have been several local businesses that have supported our events with prizes and donations, and for those we are also very grateful.
