Get Others to do the Hard Work

By Vicki Abraham

Don’t want to cook or clean up over the holidays? Maybe you still want to host without the fuss? You like the at-home vibe where the youngsters can run off and play after a meal while you moan at new ‘dad jokes’ and catch up with your cousins?

Luckily, it seems the chef at Huckleberry Restaurant at the Rosedon Hotel has read your mind! The week of Christmas they’re serving a family style to-go Christmas turkey dinner for eight people for $450 and it covers a list of favourites including pumpkin & apple velouté with candied pecans, dinner rolls & butter, cassava pie, bouquet of winter vegetables, garlic mash potatoes, pan roasted brussels sprouts and applewood smoked bacon, 10lb roasted turkey, pan gravy and cranberry jelly, Bermuda onion & sage bread stuffing, 5lb black rum & pineapple glazed ham, with a choice of 9” cherry, pecan or pumpkin pie (+ $36).

If you’re more of a traditionalist and prefer some fine dining at this time of year, they’re serving Christmas dinner in-house also.

Executive Chef Damien Griffith believes that choosing Huckleberry Restaurant for your Christmas-to-go meal is the best option if you are looking for “a comfort meal that feels traditional, tastes amazing, and is better for both you and the environment. We work hard toward producing as little waste as possible with everything we do and use sustainable packaging for all our goods. You’ll also find that most of our ingredients come from our very own on-property gardens wherever possible; this is fine dining done right.“

HUCKLEBERRY’S CHRISTMAS MARKETS are back this year from 24 November until 15 December, on Wednesday nights from 4pm – 11pm. Featuring food, drink and 20 different local businesses and charities. Your $30 entry free provides you a free drink on arrival or for $150 you can enjoy a three course dinner as well. Information and reservations at huckleberrybda.com.
